Vote for a Healthy Life

As we all know, Tuesday was Election Day. Don't worry -- I’m not going to get political here, but I want to draw a parallel that might change how you think.

Election Day is all about choices. You make choices that will affect your life and the state of our country for years, if not decades, to come. You also make choices that will affect the lives of your children, who are too young to vote on their own, for years to come.

Believe it or not, nutrition is the same thing. A choice. Every day, you make decisions about what to eat that will affect your health for the long haul. You make similar decisions for your children and maybe other family members, too. Even little daily habits, that may not seem to matter much in the grand scheme, will add up over time.

You might be imagining that I’m focusing entirely on the negative -- what you shouldn’t eat. But I’d rather focus on the incredible power of the positive…. The power of using food to improve your health. The power of using nutrition to fight chronic disease. The power of voting at the grocery store, in a restaurant, or standing at your own kitchen counter. This power can’t be overstated and it’s already in your hands.

You have the choice to ramp up or tamp down disease risk. You have the choice to improve energy, sleep, digestion, blood sugar, thinking, mood, and hundreds of health markers that you might not notice until something is seriously wrong. Why? Simple. Every single system in your body is affected – for better or for worse – by what you eat.

And, not for nothing, but when you refuse to buy processed foods with preservatives, artificial flavors, fake colors, and ingredients that damage your health, you’re telling the manufacturers “Hell no! I’m not going to let you and your marketing team compromise my well-being any longer.”

Maybe, if we all do it together, they’ll start to take note.

Until then, keep voting. Every day. Make conscious choices for the good of your body, for the good of your health, for the good of your today and your tomorrow.

If you want help, click the REPLY button below and email me. It’s not a ballot box, but it is the first step in casting your vote for vitality.

I won’t make empty promises I can’t keep. I’ll tell it like it is, meet you where you are, and get you where you want to be…. now and in the future.
